In my more lugubrious moments, I view 'Days Between' as Hunter's swan-song for Jerry, expressing his feelings about the fate of mankind...his and jerry's lament for man's corruption...the days between man's creation and his possible final extinction.
In my less darker moods, I interpret it as a song of mourning for the lost dreams, the unfulfilled promise of their generation or our generation if you were born in the forties...a wistful meditation on the fragility of life and hope.

I like the version on 12.19.94 but my favourite version is the rehearsal on So Many Roads along with the Jam into...
